Andy Papadimitriou has been creating stories from his childhood. His scripts have been awarded by the Scriptwriters Guild of Greece and his short films have participated in various international festivals. The short film Unchildishness (2016) has been awarded in Cyprus and the United Kingdom. In theater, he directed the play The Night Just Before the Forests (2011) by B. M. Koltès in Athens, Greece, and in the summer of 2017 he directed the tragedy Oedipus the King by Sophocles at the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama in Cyprus, which became one of the most successful productions in the history of the festival. In December of 2021, his first novel The Thesis “I Diatrivi” was published by the prestigious Livani Publishing Organization, which was awarded as Best Novel from the Association of Literature and Criticism of Cyprus.
Andy P., of Pontic Greek descent, was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1984, he grew up in Messolonghi, a small, historic town in the west of the country, and “matured” in Athens. He earned a BSc in Business Studies and an MBA from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. At the age of 25, he commenced studies in directing at Hellenic Cinema and Television School Stavrakos (HCTSS) in Athens, Greece. He is a member of the Directors-Producers Guild of Greek Cinema, the Directors Guild of Cyprus, the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute (CCOITI), the worldwide association of writers PEN Cyprus, the Philosophical Society of Cyprus and is a BOD member of the Cyprus National Association of Greek Authors.
